Cynthia Montero is in her 13th year with the department. She became the first Latina supervisor in the department's history when she was promoted to sergeant in 2014. Then, she became the highest-ranking female with the NBPD when she was promoted to lieutenant in 2016.
Montero and several other veteran officers were promoted on June 12. The captain will be assigned to the administrative command division, overseeing the department's internal affairs unit, the chief's office and informations technology unit.
Lieutenant Montero graduated from the prestigious FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (LEEDS), and is a certified public manager (Rutgers).
